Descriptions:

  • Listed Monitoring – “Listed” is defined as any firm, corporation, or division of a corporation located in North America, for which participation in the installation, service, monitoring, and response to burglar and fire and/or other related alarms constitutes a significant portion of its business, which operates a monitoring center that HAS been approved by FM, listed by Underwriters Laboratories, Inc. (UL), Intertek/(ETL) or other Association-approved NRTL.
  • Non-Listed Monitoring – A firm, corporation, or division of a corporation, which operates a monitoring center that has not been approved by an Association-approved NRTL, for which participation in the monitoring, and response to burglar and fire and/or other related alarms constitutes a significant portion of its business. It also includes monitoring services that are primarily outside of traditional fire and security, such as managed services for video and access control, video monitoring, virtual guards, CCTV, PERS, GPS, geo-location services, monitoring of industrial processes and others.
  • Global Security Operations Center (GSOC) Monitoring – Global Security Operations Center (GSOC) is an in-house Security Operations Center (SOC), Security Command Center (SCC), Regional Security Command Center (RSOC), or other monitoring center that provides monitoring services for a company, enterprise, or entity. In essence, the GSOC is internal to the organization, providing added value to the company by safeguarding its employees and assets. The GSOC does not generate revenue for profit, and may be a NRTL listed or non-listed monitoring center.
  • International Monitoring – Any business entity that offers security services exclusively outside North America, which may include installation, and/or monitoring.
  • Associate – Any business entity/vendor that provides goods or services to monitoring companies (other than consulting services).
  • Security Technology Services Provider – A company providing security services without their own monitoring center.
  • Consultant – Any person or business entity whose only activity in the security industry consists of the provision of consulting services to the professional monitoring industry.
